Transport Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena has issued a special gazette notice under the National Roads Act No. 40 of 2008 revising the tolls of all highways in the country.
The fares have been increased by 25 percent and a minimum of 50 rupees.
The new fare from Kottwa to Katunayake is 400 rupees, from Katunayake to Hambantota is 1,300 rupees and from Kottwa to Galle is 500 rupees.
The Transport and Highways Ministry stated that the toll hike is valid for traffic on all the highways namely Southern Expressway, Katunayake Expressway and Central Expressway. The charges are levied according to the cylinder capacity of the engine.
