A person was taken into custody along with counterfeit currency notes worth over Rs.3.5 million at Devipuram in Pudukudiiruppu. The arrest was made following a raid by Special Task Force (STF) officers of the Mullaitivu camp.
A spokesman at Police Headquarters said that when the suspect was apprehended, he had in his possession 700 forged currency notes of Rs. 5,000 denomination. A computer used to print the fake currency notes and a mobile phone was also recovered at the time of the arrest.
The 40 -year -old suspect was identified as a resident of Trincomalee and was to be produced before a local Magistrate.
