Deputy Speaker Ajith Rajapaksha yesterday told Daily News that Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Mayantha Dissanayake has not informed Parliament yet that he will step down from the Committee on Public Finance (COPF) Chairmanship.
“We will receive a letter today if he has sent it yesterday”, the Deputy Speaker said.
When Chief Opposition Whip, SJB MP Lakshman Kiriella had contacted Dissanayake on Friday, Dissanayake had communicated that he will not resign from the COPF allowing SJB MP Dr. Harsha de Silva to take over.
However, SJB General Secretary SJB Ranjith Maddumabandara said that when he contacted Dissanayake, he agreed to step down.
Many of our attempts to contact Dissanayake failed.
