Dushan Hemantha too much for England Lions

Sri Lanka A did well to beat England Lions by 86 runs in the second one dayer played at the R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday as leg spinner Dushan Hemantha grabbed five wickets.

Batting first Sri Lanka A saw their batsmen make useful contributions to total 315 for seven wickets in 50 overs.

In reply England Lions could score only 229 runs all out in 39.1 overs with the spinners doing the damage.

Sri Lanka’s second wicket pair of Lasith Croospulle and Nuwanidu Fernando put on a valuable 108 runs to give the other batsmen the confidence.

Croospulle top scored with 73 with a dozen boundaries while Nuwanidu Fernando scored 57 with five fours and a six.

Angelo Mathews also came good with the bat to score 50 while skipper Sakeera Samarawickrema chipped in with 40.

England Lions top order in Jack Haynes (36) and Tom Prest (67) also batted well to put on 89 useful runs for the third wicket. But after their dismissal the wheels came off.
