The 10th Open badminton tournament for boys and girls (Under 11 and 13) was organised and conducted successfully by the YMCA Moratuwa at its indoor sports complex on September 10 and 11, 2022 according to the Chairman of its Sports Committee J.S.A. Fernando.
He further said that this tournament is one of the popular and main events in the YMCA’s annual calendar to develop the skills and health of the youngsters in body, mind and spirit.
However, it could not be held in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-pandemic outbreak. Though this year’s event too was organised despite challenging times, it attracted entries from more than 150 up and coming youngsters who exhibited a high standard of play.
The chief guest at the finals and the presentation ceremony was the president of the YMCA Moratuwa Nilani Manthrinayake (Attorney-at-Law), and its directors and many distinguished guests, together with parents and well-wishers.
