Taapsee Pannu was brought into the world in New Delhi, India, on 1st August 1987. She is an Indian Model & Film Actress who is well known for her acting in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam films for her work.

Personal life

Tapsee’s father is Dilmohan Singh Pannu and mother Nirmaljeet. She is descended from Punjabi stock. She finished her schooling at Mata Jai Kaur public school in Ashok Vihar, Delhi. After graduating from the Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology in New Delhi in Computer Science Engineering. she has worked as a software engineer.

Career

She became a full-time model and was chosen for Get Gorgeous, a talent show by Channel V, which ultimately led her to acting.

After that she took part in the beauty pageant for Miss India in 2008 and won titles for “Safi Femina Miss Beautiful Skin” and “Pantaloons Femina Miss Fresh Face”. She subsequently appeared in numerous commercials, and eventually entered the acting field.

In 2010, she made her acting debut with Telugu movie Jhummandi Naadam. She made her Tamil movie debut a year later with the film named Aadukalam. She’s been cast in this movie opposite Tamil super star actor Dhanush. This movie was a big success at the box office, and was also widely praised.

The film won as many as six National Film Awards and at the Vijay Awards, she herself won nominations. Her six more films were released the same year including language films in Tamil ,Telugu and Malayalam. She has therefore received a distention to release 7 movies in a single calendar year.

She switched to Bollywood with the film Chashme Baddoor in 2013, after becoming a household name in the South Indian film industry. she went back to the south movie again. She was then seen in the Hindi film Baby, in a cameo role. Her role was brief though but well received.

After acting in one of Bollywood’s most acclaimed films ‘Pink’ in 2016, her career took a u-turn. In 2017 she had as many as four releases, and among those her film Judwaa 2 alongside Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez was arguably the greatest hit of her career so far.

Her performance in court-room drama Mulk and thriller Badla was highly praised. She was last seen in the movie named Game Over. She is next seen in Hindi movies such as Tadka, Mission Mangal, and Saand Ki Aankh.

Pannu has featured in Forbes India’s list of Celebrity 100 in 2018 at 67th position with an estimated income of 15.48 crore (US$2.0 million). She was featured for a second time in 2019 ranking 68th. In 2017, she was featured in the magazine’s 30 Under 30 list. She was ranked in The Times Most Desirable Women at No. 36 in 2019, at No. 23 in 2020.

Pannu runs an event management company called The Wedding Factory which she manages along with her sister Shagun and friend Farah Parvaresh. In 2018, she bought the badminton franchise Pune 7 Aces which plays in the Premier Badminton League.

In 2019, Pannu raised awareness about children’s health, and gender parity on Twitter with hashtag #WhyTheGap. Pannu has also served as the brand ambassador for Uber, Garnier, Nivea, Kurkure and Women’s Horlicks.
