Sri Lanka will send its boys and girls teams to participate in two tennis tournaments to be staged in New Delhi, India next week.

The boys’ team will participate in the Junior Davis Cup Asian Oceania qualification round while the girls’ team will take part in the ITF Junior Billie Jean King Cup tournament.

The five member boys’ team will be led by Tharaka Sandaruwan while the girls’ team will be captained by Tharnakuraja Pahirathan.

There will be stiff competition in both competitions with 14 countries expected to participate in the boys’ event while there will be 16 countries in the girls’ event.

The selection of the teams was done after the players had performed well at the SLT Clay court tennis championship that concluded last week. The tournament in India will give them the opportunity to get exposure at international level.
