Dharmasoka win Henry Olcott cricket tourney in the UAE

The champion Dharmasoka College (old boys) team comprising Shashika Suren (captain), Pasindu Prabash, Indika Perera, Sudhara Deshantha, Krishan Gihan Perera, Nalin Aluthwelahewa, Krishan Daminda, Malindu, Arumawadu, Tiraj Punsara de Silva, Kasun Maduranga, Ramitha de Silva and Suraj Pradeep Zoyza receiving the Henry Steele Olcott Champions Trophy from the Consular General in the UAE Nalinda Wijeratne

The 13th Sir Henry Steel Olcott Schools Cricket Tournament organised by the Olcott Alumni of the UAE was held at the Sharjah Wanderers Club ground and contested by the old boys of eight Olcott schools and Sri Lankan cricket followers living in the United Arab Emirates.

Dharmapala and Dharmasoka contested the Championship Trophy final while Ananda and Mahinda played in the Plate final. The Shield was contested by Maliyadeva and Dharmarajah in the final.

Defending champions Dharmasoka College convincingly beat Dharmapala College to become the Oloctt Trophy champion for the fifth consecutive time with Sudara Deshantha of Dharmasoka adjudged as the Man of the Final.

Shaluka of Dharmapala was adjudged the Best All-rounder, Shashika Suren of Dharmasoka the Best Batsman and Malindu Arunawadu of Dharmasoka the Best Bowler of the Trophy Championship.

Ananda College won the Plate and Mahinda College became runner-up. Yasitha Seneviratne of Ananda was adjudged as the Man of the Final while Kushan Wijewardhana of Ananda was adjudged the Best All-rounder. Ajith Soori of Mahinda was adjudged as Best Batsman while Anuradha Jayaratne of Mahinda was adjudged as Best Bowler of the Plate Championship.

At the Shield completion, following close encounter Dharmarajah College beat Maliyadeva College with Samitha Karunaratne of Dharmarajah adjudged as the Man of the Final while Eranga Hettiarachchi of Dharmarajah was adjudged as the Best All-rounder. Tharuka Rajaguru of Maliyadeva was adjudged as Best Batsman and Duminda Ekanayake of Dharmarajah adjudged the Best Bowler of the Shield Championship.

Nalinda Wijerathna the Consul General of Sri Lanka to Dubai and Northern Emirates at the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai was the chief guest while General Mahesh Senanayake, former Commander of the Army graced the occasion as the guest of honour.
