Shay Mitchell is pregnant! The former Pretty Little Liars star announced she is expecting her second child and shared the exciting news via an Instagram post.
As part of her social media announcement, the star posed for a series of soft, grainy portraits. She captioned the photo carousel with a heartfelt message, acknowledging the recent passing of her grandmother.
“Saying goodbye to a loved one while simultaneously experiencing the joy of welcoming another into this world is the great cycle of life. It is also my most challenging season to date,” Mitchell wrote. “I can’t help but think this was the universe’s plan all along, knowing I would need other worldly joy to cushion the blow of losing one of the most important people in my life.”
She concluded the message with a note to her future “little one,” writing, “We are so excited to meet you.”
This is the second child for Mitchell and her partner Matte Babel. The couple previously welcomed a daughter, named Atlas Noa, in 2019. The family has been consistently adorable on social media, posing for holiday portraits and poolside matching moments.
Back in a 2019 interview, Mitchell credited her time on Pretty Little Liars with helping her prepare for motherhood. “We had such long shoot dates. When we weren’t shooting, we were promoting the show and doing photo shoots. And we had to travel so much!” Mitchell said. “It taught me how to organize my time. Especially now that I’ve added a baby to my life, that’s been invaluable. Looks like those same skills will come in handy as she prepares to welcome baby number two.
