Journalist turned mountaineer who became the first Sri Lankan to conquer Mount Everest, Jayanthi Kuru-Uthupala, stands astride the Queen’s Baton that did its rounds in the island ahead of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham along with former netball player Tharjni Sivalingam whose towering height Kuru-Uthumpala will not be able to scale despite climbing the roof of the world.
