
Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardana has tested positive for Covid-19 following a rapid antigen test on Friday (August 27).
In a post published on his official Facebook page on Friday night, the Minister stated that he underwent the test after it was confirmed that several of his staff members were tested positive for Covid-19.
Minister Gunawardana called upon his close contacts to undergo self-quarantine.
He is the ninth Member of Parliament to contract the virus this month.
Earlier this month, several lawmakers including Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage, State Ministers Prasanna Ranaweera and Janaka Wakkumbura and MPs Rohana Dissanayake, Tissa Kuttiarachchi, Dilip Wedaarachchi and Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam also tested positive for the virus.
