Mind Fizz was organised by the teen magazine ‘ChoKoLAATe’ and was an island-wide, inter school virtual quiz competition, aimed to produce a platform in order to help the youth to engage and explore their extra-curricular side during lock down.
A total of forty teams from multiple national and international schools registered for this competition with the total participant count amounting to 135 students.
Every team had a face-off with another with three rounds, namely formal ‘Q & A’ where each member had to answer a question each, the pictorial round and the rapid fire round.
Two preliminary rounds were held on the of June 12, via zoom after which 10 teams moved forward to the quarter finals which were held on the of June 13. All teams showcased immense spirit of healthy competition and strive to unlock their genius with their ‘ Mind Fizz’.
Upon the conclusion of the quarter final round, five teams advanced to the qualifiers round which was held on the of June 19, before the semifinals where they competed in a heated rapid fire round. The top four teams that progressed to the semifinals were Team B of Hejaaz International School, Team A of Bishops College, Team A of St. Thomas College and Devi Balika Vidyalaya.
The teams that made their way towards the final showdown, after some intense competition, were Devi Balika Vidyalaya and S.Thomas College, Mount Lavinia out of which Devi Balika Vidalaya championed the event attaining victory at ‘ChoKoLAATe Mind Fizz’.
An awards ceremony will be held for the semifinalists and finalists once the health situation in the country improves, where we will officially recognise and award the winners.
ChoKoLAATe magazine would like to extend its heartiest gratification to all schools and teams who participated in the Mind Fizz.
