Beautiful and poised, Imasha Dilshani Perera is a head turner wherever she goes. Therefore, it is not surprising that she made it to the top of the Sri Lankan beauty field by winning the much sought after Miss Sunday Observer crown at the Miss Lanka. She also carried away the Miss Designer title at this glittering contest.

Born and bred in the seaside town of Negombo which is also a tourist hub, Imasha Dilshani had her education at St. Peter’s College, Negombo. She studied traditional Kandyan dancing and was actively involved in dance and drama during her school days Nari Bana was her first stage play in school and she has many fond memories of it. She also has the honour of having been a member of the dance troupe which was placed first in a worldwide dance competition in 2006. Imasha learnt scuba diving during the Miss Scuba Sri Lanka pageant.

This young beauty lives in Negombo with her mother and younger sister. She sadly underwent the traumatic experience of losing her father to brain cancer and therefore , shoulders much family responsibility as the elder daughter in the family.

Imasha Dilshani is the epitome of a 21st century young, career girl. She started her career as an executive. She is also a presenter for Channel C and presents her own musical program, My first track weekly. Her friend Kafas introduced her to Channel C.

Beauty pageants

Imasha Dilshani Perera entered the world of beauty pageants in 2011 by participating in the Max Model of the Year contest in 2011. This is very creditable that being a first timer she made it to the Top Ten in an extremely competitive contest. Her next foray into this field was the Miss Ceylinco VIP contest in 2013 and she again made it to the Top Ten. Imasha’s third beauty pageant was the Miss Global International beauty pageant where she was ranked among the Top Five in a closely contested competition.

Then came the jewel in the crown- the winning of the Miss Lanka - Miss Sunday Observer contest 2014 held at the Grand Oriental Hotel, Colombo. Imasha says,” I am so happy about winning this pageant. I worked very hard towards my goal. And what makes me even happier is that I made my mother and sister very happy.

Their support went a long way towards my success. As a devout Catholic I believe in Jesus Christ and also I firmly believe my talent and success is given by the Almighty Father and am very thankful to him”. Imasha also won the Miss Designer contest clad in a beautiful denim blue high necked blouse and lungi designed by Nuwan Thissera of Ru Liya Salon in Negombo. Hair and make up was by Imasha herself.

The judges for the contest were Editor-in-Chief, Sunday Observer, Dinesh Weerawansa, Chief Sponsor, Damayanthi Wimalaweera, Grand Oriental Hotel, Colombo Manager, Dulip de Alwis, Softlogic’s Thanuja Haputhanthri, Chairman, Technique International K. Kuhatheva, Monta Gamage and Suranga Cooray.

Imasha also participated in the Miss Scuba International Pageant in 2016 and came into the finals.

There is another very noteworthy feather in Imasha’s cap. Her photograph by Ranjini Gamage won the gold medal in the 2017 Photographer of the World contest. The model and photographer received much support from Mahesh Ganganath for this project.

Modelling

Being a top model in the world of high fashion was Imashas’s childhood dream and today she has achieved it in a big way. Imasha was spotted at a bridal show in Negombo by choreographer Senaka de Silva in 2009 and he invited her to participate in a ramp show, Dazzling Hair, he was choreographing for well known beautician,Ramani Fernando. Since then, she has participated in every Dazzling Hair show. Imasha has also trained at Chulapathmendra’s modeling studio, “Modelling has brought me many new experience s and taught me many new things and especially how to face whatever life brings my way. It has helped me reach where I am in life now. I believe modeling is a good profession for young girls providing they are willing to learn,work hard and conduct themselves properly.

Imasha has appeared in TV commercials for Munchee, Damro, Sinhagiri TV and Bellagio casino. Her print media advertisements include photo shoots for Rathna books, Dimak, Kalani Fabrics and Blueberry denim.

In addition to taking part in glittering fashion shows Imasha does an annual photo shoot on different themes for the University of Moratuwa.

Drama

Drama plays a very big part in Imasha Dilhani’s lfe and has done so from her schooldays.She has taken part in several productions by Richard Manamudali . She has played leading roles in Atthatama boru, Mayakkari, Mata Marenna Hithuna (directed by Shamal Dilon) and Lanuwa directed by Randika Wimalasooriya.

She has also acted in the stage drama Nari and played the role of Mary Magdalene in the stage drama of the same name. It was directed by Sanjaya Nirmal and Imasha was chosen for the role by her Parsish Priest, Father Terry.

Imasha has also acted in several short films including Milina Kakulu (directed by Thrishula Dheepa Thambawita), Dilshara (Max television) Supuwatha (Rupavahini) and Sonduru Pathuma (directed by Sister Chamari).

Imasha Dilshani is a household name in the realm of Sri Lankan music videos. Among her music videos she has played leading roles in Adanna ai karanei (Shashika Nisansala and Janaka Wickremasinghe), Shungara as (Tharaka Gamage) Sanda rajiniyaki (Desmond Fernando) and Kelle (Niranjan Hettiarachchi).

In addition Imasha has been featured on two international music videos. She played a leading role in Sahel o darya (Edgard Auon) and appeared in See you later (Apache).

Being born and bred in a seaside town has given Imasha a great affinity with the sea and she loves to spend time relaxing on the golden beaches of Negombo. She also loves to watch movies.

Imasha has come a long way and attained much in her young life. Her future ambition is to remain in the ranks of top models and actresses. She is proud of her achievements as her mother and sister who are like rocks in her life.

Her uncle, Sudu Mama is another great strength to her. Confidence is key to Imasha’s success. She is very grateful to everyone who has helped her in her journey to success especially her mother, sister and uncle.
