The Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) has decided to postpone the invitational pre-seasonal tournament the FFSL President’s Cup 2020 till August 9, its president Anura de Silva said.
The Championship was originally scheduled to kick off on July 26 behind closed doors with the participation of 20 teams at the Sugathadasa Stadium and Race Course ground.
With the number of Covid-19 cases drastically reducing since the peak of the outbreak in April, the authorities had moved cautiously to resume sports activities after four months. But due to a threat of a second wave the FFSL has decided to postpone the tournament.
Nevertheless FFSL’s obligation to support clubs that have already started training for the event, the health of the staff and players will be given priority and taken into account according to Anura de Silva. (TBR)
