Maliban Biscuits made a superlative start when they crushed defending champions Nawaloka Hospitals by nine wickets in an MCA ‘D’ division 40-over league cricket tournament fixture at Mattegoda last weekend.
Batting first Nawaloka were bamboozled by Venura Gayashan (4/13) and Kavinda Bandara (4/4) and made 55 for Maliban to reach the target in 16.2 overs for a total of 59 for one.
Central Finance regained some lost prestige by beating Delmage Group by eight wickets.
Debutants, Mode Engineering registered their first win in Mercantile cricket beating MAS Bodyline by 24 runs as M. Theekshana (4 for 15) and M. Keerthibandara (3 for 17) were the architects in their victory.
