Cabinet nod for National Policy framework

The Cabinet of Ministers approved a proposal by Finance, Economic and Policy Development Minister and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to admit the President’s Policy Statement “Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour” as the National Policy framework, Higher Education, Technology and Innovations Minister and Co-Cabinet Spokesman Bandula Gunawardana said.

At the weekly cabinet briefing at the Government Information Department Auditorium, in Colombo on Thursday, the Minister said 10 principles have been accorded priority: national security, friendly and non-aligned foreign policy, an administration free from corruption, new Constitution that fulfills the people’s wishes, productive citizenry and a vibrant human resource, people centric economic development, technology based society, development of physical resources, sustainable environmental management and disciplined, law abiding and value based society.

According to Minister Gunawardana, the main objective of “Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour” is building a prosperous nation of productive citizens, happy families and a disciplined society.

Instructions will be issued to all Ministries, Departments, Government Institutions, Provincial Councils and Local Government Institutions, according to the cabinet approval, the Minister said.
