Adverse weather claims two

Two deaths have been reported due to adverse weather that hit several parts of the island last week, the Disaster Management Center said.

The deaths were reported in Badalkubura in Monaragala and Koralaipattu in Batticaloa. Meanwhile, nearly 2,990 people of 752 families were affected by flash floods, heavy rains and landslides. Over 200 people in the Uva Province, affected by adverse weather, were evacuated to safe locations. The Disaster Management Center said that 106 houses were damaged. Most of the houses are at Wellawaya in Uva.
