Lakshan Samarasinghe from Anantara Resort Kalutara emerged as the new Travel Trade pool champion when he staved off a stiff challenge from new comer, Nadun Perera from Infinity Vacations in a tense Cup final at the sixth edition of the Travel Trade Sports Club Pool Championships 2019, concluded last week at the QN Brave Pool Parlour, Wellawatte.
Samarasinghe (2018 ‘Plate’ winner) was seeded as the bottom in the absence of 2018 Cup runner-up Ackiel Jameel from Amadeus Lanka. On his way to the final, Lakshan beat Insaf Iqbal from Deithlum Travels, Adhil Gafoor from Deithlum Travels, Akila Nuwanga, former Cup winner from Infinity Vacations and Chamith Perera from Fabulous Gateway. A total of 32 players took part in the tournament which was sponsored by Yaneesha Travels, Seeduwa for the sixth successive year.
