Sunanda Kodagoda was awarded the ‘Pranama Abhisheka Award’ by the Maharagama Divisional Secretariat. This award is being awarded by the Department of Cultural Affairs, to artistes who have rendered an outstanding service to the field of literature in various fields of art.

Concurrent to the National Literary Arts Festival, the Department of Cultural Affairs and Maharagama Divisional Secretariat organized the Regional Literary Arts Festival event which was held recently at the Maharagama Divisional Secretariat auditorium with the participation of Sunil Kannangara, District Secretary of Colombo, as chief guest. The award was presented to Sunanda Kodagoda by Rodney Fraser, Western Provincial Councillor.

Sunanda served as journalist, photographer and has won numerous awards in his career in the field of literature for more than 40 years and in the field of photography over 30 years.

‘Riviresa’ newspaper featured in “Naralowa Holman” was by Sunanda Kodagoda, who began his writing career with sarcastic creations. In addition, Sunanda was a creative contributor to the newspapers, Madhu Madhavi Kavi magazine, Poetery, Viridu, songs. He also wrote scripts to the famous drama series ‘Kopi Kadey’ in the ITN.
