Alethea School and International School, redefining and revolutionising the teaching techniques has evolved to the next step by introducing E-Education, while having instilled ‘appreciate the difference in people’ value to the present and past products.
Their bid to remain on-par with the digital day and age, taking teaching to technological platforms was ceremoniously unveiled, at its re-launch titled as “Entry in to technology-driven, inclusive education”, at the school auditorium, recently.
This digital development is aimed at, easing and enhancing the learning process as well as the students- learning relationship. The technology-based teaching has made Alethea, the first such from the industry, with the school proudly labelling itself, as the “1st digital school”.
The digitalisation, the first phase in its journey, is now strengthened with five digital science labs, two music studious, a state-of-the-art computer lab, and an e-library.
In addition, the private and international school with a 600 population and growing has now gifted to the students the luxury of modernised classrooms with student lockers, smart interactive boards and an international standard basketball courts. The management also disclosed that it has the capacity to accommodate up to 800 students. The major upgrade also applies to special learning facilities, for kids with special needs. The entire school is now strengthened with E-Education, at their finger tips.
Management Coordinator of the school Pranath Fernando, said, “the library, along with the traditional book referring practice, is now armed with E-library facility. Student portals have been created with restrictions.”
“Also, in the event of a no-show from student/s with valid reasons, compulsory subjects namely, Sinhala, science and environmental studieswill be handed over to the parents via a special Student Management App. Login details will be shared with the parents,” he explained.
Responding to the Youth Observer as to how they will be covering cost, the Managing Director and Coordinating Principal, Anitra Perera, said “in moving towards the new found method of teaching, all students have stood back. Providing full use, the school has also introduced coding at a very young age, hence the boys and girls will be up-to-date from their schooling years, one chapter, to their next chapter of entering the modern world.
An alumnus reflecting retrospectively hailed his alma-mater for erasing the attitude of disparity and inculcating the attitude all are the same. “We did not see the difference. Appreciating differences were instilled, at a very young age,”
Alethea, today, boasts of over 90-years of service; provides both local and international curriculum. It is now equipped with the smart-classrooms as well as smart interactive boards.
