Rs. 265 m for victims of Easter Sunday attacks

The Office for Reparation (OR) has dispersed Rs. 265 million among the victims of the Easter Sunday attacks,the OR announced on Friday.

The compensation process included 263 dead and 503 wounded.

The OR in a statement said Rs. 199 million has been disseminated on behalf of the deceased and Rs 66 million for the injured.

Rs. 144 million has been paid for the victims of the bomb explosion at the Katuwapitiya St. Sebastian Shrine that killed 115 and injured 265.

Meanwhile, the National Policies, Economic Affairs, Resettlement and Rehabilitation, Northern Province Development and Youth Affairs Ministry has released Rs. 25 million as advance money to rebuild churches damaged in the attacks. The Army and Navy oversee the rebuilding project of the churches.

Rs. 10 million each has been granted to Katuwapitiya St. Sebastian Shrine and Kochchikade St. Anthony’s Shrine and

Rs. 5 million to Batticaloa Zion church.
