Sachintha Senanayake led Dharmaraja College to win both the TB Tennakoon Memorial Trophy and the Winston Hoole Memorial Trophy in their annul two-day Big Match and the 50-over game against Kingswood College in Kandy this year.

His leadership qualities came into prominence especially in the one-day match with his field settings and bowling changes at crucial stages of the game.

This was after his team took the field to defend a very low total of 111 runs. In turn Dharmaraja bundled out Kingswood for 83 runs thanks to Senanayake’s tactical moves.

Senanayake is a multi-talented sportsman who also takes part in athletics.

But his favourite sport is cricket which he took to from the age of eight under the guidance of coach, the former cricketer Gamini Debahapuwa and later by Ananda Wijesekera, Gamini Wasalatantri and Senaka Dissanayake.

His current coach is USC Perera.

Senanayake is a left hand batsman who bowls right arm off spinners.

He has also excelled in studies and bagged nine As at the GCE OL examination and one of his main ambitions is to be an engineer and continue to play cricket.
