The Air Force cycling team comprising of Nirantha Fernando (1394), Achla Pradeep (1217), Randika Ranasinghe (938) and Charith Fernando (967) were able to take away the men’s club championship in the Elite Riders Ranking Club Championship which concluded at the Vihara Maha Devi circuit on Sunday.
The Airmen were followed by Navy riders and achieved the highest number of points.
In the event for non-Ranking Elite Riders the Army team won the title with Navy taking the second slot.
In the women’s category Air Force stole the limelight winning the Ranking Elite Riders event in style. It was a complete domination by the Airwomen winning all three top positions in the event which was run in 15 laps. The under-23 class for men saw the Navy take major honors pushing the Police team to the second slot. The Navy team was able aggregate a total of 1383 points to win the title for this class.
The Veterans event which was run on10 laps saw the highest number of participants and former outstanding riders during their hay days representing some of leading cycling clubs in the country. There were many riders for all categories of events represented by many outstation clubs too.
