India and Bangladesh on Friday sealed an agreement that will allow bilateral coordination between the anti-corruption authorities.
The agreement between the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Anti Corruption Commission of Bangladesh was signed during the 5th Joint Consultative Commission (JCC) meeting that took place here on Friday. The meeting was chaired by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and her visiting Bangladesh counterpart Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen who is on his maiden visit to India. “They welcomed the fact that the relationship was now broadening to include new and high technology areas for partnership, such as space, nuclear energy, IT and electronics,” according to a Joint Statement issued after the signing of agreements. Apart from the anti-corruption agreement, both sides also sealed an agreement on training of mid-career civil servants from Bangladesh, and an MoU on cooperation in the field of new age and traditional medicines.
The Bangladesh Foreign Minister also extended Dhaka’s appreciation on the assistance India extended in dealing with the Rohingya refugee crisis in Chittagong.
