CDB Finance and David Pieris Motors entered the final in the Men’s D division of the Mercantile Services Basketball Tournament held at the Henry Pedris and SJC courts.
CDB Finance advanced to the final beating Commercial Bank, 88/69. The bankers held a one point lead at half time (42/41).
CDB’s match winning shooters were Kanchana Gunasekera (22), Dhakshika Wijesinghe (20) and Lakshitha Fonseka (17).
Ashan Rukmal (21) scored most for Commercial Bank.
David Pieris Motors too advanced to the final when they defeated MAS Holdings ‘B’ 63/54, after leading 29/24 at half time. The DPMC match winning trio were Thanushka Wanigaratne (16) Nalaka Kumarasinghe (15) and Jagath Kulatunga (11).
Abdul Qadir (19) and Nalaka Ranasinghe (12) played tirelessly for MAS.

Thanushka Wanigaratne (20), Nalaka Kumarasinghe (15) and Jagath Kulatunga (12) were the top shooters for DPMC.

CDB Finance trounced Virtusa 75/36 after leading 36/18 at half time. Lakshitha Fonseka (25), Kanchana Gunasekera (18) and Supun Lakmal (12) piled on the points for CDB.
CDB Finance won a double when they defeated MAS Holdings ‘B’ 67/42 after leading 39/18 at half time. Lakshitha Fonseka (18), Kanchana Gunasekera (12) and Supun Lakmal (10) scored for CDB.
Chandika Ariyaratne (16) stood out for MAS.
David Pieris Motor Company also scored a smashing 73/50 win over Commercial Bank after holding a commanding lead (36/17) at half time. The match winning shooters were Thanushka Wanigaratne (20), Jagath Kulatunga (17) and Nalaka Kumarasinghe (12). The top scorers for the bankers were Kushan Perera (16), Kaveen Pathiraja (11) and J. Arumugam (10)
MAS Holdings ‘B’ advanced to the semi-finals as they scored a crushing 62/40 win over Virtusa after holding a massive lead (31/10) at half time. Abdul Qadir (13), Azeem Ameen (12) and Dinith Pathirage (10) scored for MAS.
Dilka Sirimanne (17) and Denver Spittel (15) played tirelessly for Virtusa.
