Pueblo West, Colo. June 22:

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office discovered more than 400 plants at a Pueblo West home Friday afternoon.

The bust happened at a home on S. Walden Circle. The neighborhood is just north of the Pueblo Reservoir. The sheriff’s office said the illegal grow contained 420 plants in multiple rooms. The marijuana is valued at about $1.2 million.

A concerned citizen contacted authorities about a strong odour of marijuana coming from the home. Deputies contacted the renter, who admitted to growing marijuana, but told deputies he only had 100 plants. Colorado residents are only allowed to grow 12 plants. The resident then allowed deputies into the home.

“This is nothing more than a grow house,” said Pueblo County Sheriff Kirk M. Taylor. “The electrical and heating systems had been altered significantly, windows were covered and irrigation systems were rigged up throughout the home. The only livable space was the kitchen and living room. This was designed to be nothing more than a black market grow.”

The Pueblo Regional Building Department condemned the home due to the extensive and unsafe electrical and duct work in the home. There also was evidence of black mold in several rooms at the residence. This same home was the site of an illegal grow bust in 2016, however, detectives do not believe the same individuals are involved.
