A festival of three plays, written and directed by well-known dramatist Rajitha Dissanayake, will be staged at the Lionel Wendt Theatre in Colombo, on August 25, 26 and 27, at 7 pm.
The festival starts off with ‘Mata Wedi Thiyannedda’ (Aug. 25) which is being staged after a lapse of 18 years.
‘Adara Wasthuwa’ (Aug. 26) will mark its fourth year anniversary since premiering in 2013. ‘Adara Wasthuwa’ won the awards for ‘Best Script’ and ‘Best Actor’ at the State Drama Festival in 2014. The festival ends with Rajitha’s latest play, ‘Nathuwa Bari Minihek’ (Aug. 27) This performance will mark the play’s first year anniversary. ‘Nathuwa Bari Minihek’ won seven State Drama awards in 2017 including the awards for Best Play, Best Director, Best Script and Best Actor.
