Kandy is eagerly waiting for the 3rd Test and the two one day games between Sri Lanka and India which will take place in August.

Sri Lanka and India will be engaged in three Tests, five ODI’s and one T/20 in their first series involving all three formats of the game in eight years.

The Kandy Test, the third and final of the series will be played from August 12th to 16th. The 2nd ODI on August 24th and the 3rd one dayer on 27th August at Pallekelle Stadium .

Previously India and Sri Lanka had played a full series against each other -- three Tests, five ODIs and two T20 matches -- in India in 2009.

India won the Test series 2-0, the ODI 3-1 and drew the T20 segment 1-1.

India’s last tour of Sri Lanka was two years ago in August 2015 when they played a Test series which they won 2-1.

India won its last ODI series 4-1 in 2012. In the same year, India also won a T20 series 1-0 against Sri Lanka. Since 1985, India have played 21 Test matches in Sri Lanka, winning six, losing seven and drawing eight.

Going back to the 1985 Test match where Sri Lanka under the captaincy of Duleep Mendis beat India led by Kapil Devi in the 2nd test to win maiden test series. In 1985 it was the first visit of the Indians to Sri Lanka almost four years after the hosts gained Test status. Sri Lanka, had not registered a Test victory and not many gave them a chance.
