V.Arshika of Chundikuli Girls School,Jaffna, will compete in the under 17 age category in the 63 Kg. weight class representing Sri Lanka at the Commonwealth Championship Weight lifting Contest to be held from 3rd to 10th of September,2017 at the Gold Coast, Australia.
The other female will be H.W.N.B.J. Kaputenna of Polonnaruwa Weight Lifting Club who will compete in the Under 20 age category in the 90 Kg and above weight Class at the same
Contest. They were the only two females selected at the trials conducted by the Sri Lanka Weight Lifting Federation held at the Sports Ministry weight lifting centre,over the week end.
The list of Junior weight lifters who were selected at the Trials were as follows:

Under 20 Men - S.D.I.U. Senadheera - Royal College, Polonnaruwa-105 Kg.”
Under 20 Women - H.W.N.B.J. Kaputenna - Polonnaruwa Wt. lifting club -90+Kg.”
Trials to select the Senior Weight lifters will be held in due course at the same venue.
