Have you ever stopped and wondered how a less affluent child will be able to display his or her inherent musical talent if he or she is unable to showcase it due to the non-availability of a musical instrument? Dr.Gananath Dasanayake and his friends have got together to present “The Great American Songbook Vol 2” on Saturday May 27 at the British School Auditorium, 8 p.m. onwards, and all proceeds from this concert will be donated to help the less affluent children through the now recognized charity, The Music Project.
The Children in Jaffna, Mullaitivu and Kurunegala will benefit and thus their lives will take on a happy note. The program for the evening will include not only the hits that Frank Sinatra gave to the music world, but also other favourites including, ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’, Summer Wind, Amore and King of the Road.
There will be many songs and you are sure to hear your favourites. So make sure you are there for the dual purpose – to hear your favourites and to support the worthy cause.
Dr. Gananath Dasanayake will be in action on vocals and saxophone ably supported by his band En Route with Debbie Arnolda – piano, Maxie Pietersz – double bass, Niroshan de Silva – drums, Ramesh Nonis – guitar and Dilip Seneviratne – organ.
Box plan and tickets are available at Park Street Mews. Make sure you are one of the many who will be there to enjoy the surprises En Route has planned for you and experience how Frank Sinatra has influenced them musically.
