It is a tree that attracted controversy, but in the midst of that debate, it showed how we can achieve unity in diversity. Indeed, ‘The Tallest Christmas Tree in the World’ was a labour of love of workers of all communities and religions in Sri Lanka, who worked together day and night in a spirit of brotherhood. Today, when it lights up the Galle Face Green, it will be a beacon of hope for peace and harmony in our land.
