Sri Lankan Art is a series of annual exhibitions initiated by The George Key Foundation in 2001 – Originally named ‘Sculptors and Painters of Sri Lanka’. The exhibition was subsequently renamed – ‘Sri Lankan Art’.
Artists are invited to present their most recent Sculpture and Paintings of the previous twelve months.
The exhibition this year will be inaugurated on Wednesday 16th November evening by the Chief Guests and presented daily thereafter till Monday 21st November – 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. in association with Nations Trust Bank PLC – American Express Cards at the JDA Perera Galleries, University of the Visual and Performing Arts, No. 46, Horton Place, Colombo 7. Formal inauguration by Chief Guests will be at 6.00 p.m. on Wednesday 16th November.
The exhibition will include Sri Lanka’s best and talented artists-sculptors and painters. The art loving public will be able to see the developments in contemporary art in Sri Lanka as the exhibition will be confined to work of the previous 12 months.
Deshamanya Ken Balendra and Mrs Balendra will be Chief Guests at the inauguration of the exhibition.
The exhibition is an opportunity for Sri Lankan artists to present their current work together and for Sri Lanka to be aware of the development of the visual arts.
