It is a masterpiece of culture and conservation. The hotel hosts plenty of unique suites to meet any traveller’s desire from cosy Garden Rooms along the frangipani scented courtyard to the opulent Grand Apartment, a penthouse suite with its grand archways and high ceilings. With its wide verandas and courtyard which draws on a sense of colonial grandeur, the Galle Fort Hotel is today a fusion of Galle’s vibrant culture, servicing the best comforts of modern hospitality amid a truly unforgettable holiday experience.

The building boasts architectural designs from both Dutch and British eras while also complimenting Sri Lankan cultural influences into its construction. A living treatment to the architectural legacy of the Dutch colonizers, it continues to pay homage to Galle’s cultural and aesthetic milieu while presenting a marvelous ambience and a delectable cuisine complimented by a distinguished standard of service. “The 14 room hotel is mostly occupied by the European travellers and the main attraction is the different themes the rooms represented. We try to make the best service delivery and we pay a lot of emphasis on training”, Galle Fort Hotel General Manager David Elgar said.

There are lots of independent travellers and their choice has been our hotel. Therefore, the occupancy rate is pretty good, he said. The hotel is also the winner of the World Luxury Hotel Award, awarded by an honoured global organization presenting commendable luxury hotels with recognition for their world class facilities and their distinction of service to guests.
