The book ‘Some Fleeting Thoughts’ is a collection of short stories and poems written by Sunila Nanayakkara. She had earlier published a collection of short stories titled ‘Swimming Against The Tide.’ Many of her short stories and poems have appeared in the print media.
Most of the short stories in this collection try to draw attention to the strengths as well as the weaknesses in women and men. Some, the author says have an element of autobiography in them. She has also tried to present some short stories in the style of “short-short story”, which is also called “flash fiction” and a few poems in the styles of “Haiku” and “Lantern.” The collection consists of twelve short stories and thirty-two poems.
Sunila Nanayakkara is a teacher by profession. She has worked in educational institutions in Sri Lanka, Nigeria and Seychelles. At present, she is serving on a part-time basis at the Institute of Human Resource Advancement and the American College of Higher Education, Dehiwela.
