Veteran cricketers will have to bowl only four deliveries per over in the six-a-side cricket tournament to be conducted by Lanka Cavaliers on August 26 at the Land Development Corporation Cricket ground in Kirimandala Mawatha, Colombo 5.
This tournament, organized for the eighth time, is for players where a team can consist of five players who are over 50 years and one should be 55 years and above.
Nine teams have entered to participate in honour of the former eminent Sri Lanka captain Bandula Warnapura.
The nine teams are divided into three groups and play on a round robin basis. The three teams finishing on top of a group and the fourth team with the highest net run rate will be picked to play in the semi-finals.
If there is a tie in the scores a super over will be used and again if there is a tie the team with the most number of boundaries will be picked the winner. The tournament will be played in white clothing and red ball.
The number of deliveries to be bowled by a bowler will be six during the semi-finals onwards.
Teams are:
Group A: Vintage CC, Old Royalists and Umpires Association
Group B: MCA, St. Thomas’ Kotte and Police SC
Group C: Colombo Masters, Old Thomians and Army SC
