32 teams in U-17 second round

As many as 32 teams advanced to the second round of the Under 17 Division One inter school cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and sponsored by Sri Lanka Cricket.

More than 70 teams participated in the league based into 14 groups in the first round. St. Joseph’s College Colombo and Trinity College were declared joint champions in the last season.

St. Joseph’s College Colombo (A), Thurstan College (A), St. Sebastian’s College Moratuwa (A), Nalanda Colombo (A), Royal College Colombo (A), De Mazenod College Kandana, Maris Stella College Negombo, St. Servatius College Matara, Taxila Central College Horana, Rahula College Matara, Trinity College (A), Kingswood College, St. Sebastian’s College Katuneriya and Maliyadeva College Kurunegala advanced to the second round as champions of their groups in the first round.

Prince of Wales College (A), Piliyandala Central College, Ananda College (A), St. Benedict’s College Kotahena (A), Wesley College (B), Bandaranayake MMV Gampaha, Gurukula College Kelaniya, Sri Devananda College Ambalangoda, Devapathiraja College Ratgama, St. Thomas College Matara, St. Thomas College Matale, St. Anthony’s College (A) Kandy, St. Joseph Vaz College Wennappuwa and St. Anne’s College Kurunegala advanced to the second round as runner up teams of their group in the first round.

St. Peter’s College (A) Bambalapitiya, Mahanama College (A) Colombo, St. Aloysius College Galle and Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda advanced to the second round as the best third placed teams of their group in the first round. (YK)
