Central and Western win chess titles

Central Province and Western Province won the men’s and women’s titles at the chess tournament at the National Sports Festival 2023.

Eighteen chess teams participated from every province in the Island. Isuru Alahakoon (Central) and Chamodya Yapa Bandara (Central) were adjudged as the best players in the tournament.

Men’s Category:

Champion - Central Province

1st Runner up – Sabaragamuwa Province
2nd Runner up – Western Province

Women’s Category

Champion - Western Province

1st Runner up – Central Province
2nd Runner up – Southern Province
