The Gampaha District Secretariat Administrative Complex ‘Laksiyane Mandiraya’ consisting of nine floors built at a cost of Rs. 4,000 million for the public administration sector will be opened by President Ranil Wickremesinghe on June 27 at 4 pm.
The administrative complex has an area of 225,000 square feet and it includes a fully equipped 1,000-seat auditorium and a 400-seat fully equipped cafeteria.
After commencement of the activities of this complex, 28 main Government institutions which are in different places in Gampaha city will be shifted to this complex and Government institutions which were in the District Secretariat premises will also be brought to this complex.
Thirty-seven institutions will be housed in the building complex. It is expected that 3,000 to 5,000 people will visit the place daily to obtain various services from these institutions. There is a staff of 1,162 in all Government institutions to provide services to the people.
According to Gampaha District Secretary Saman Darshana Padikorala, there is parking space for 209 cars and five buses.
Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, Urban Development and Housing Minister Prasanna Ranathunga, Trade, Commerce and Food Security Minister Nalin Fernando, State Ministers Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Ashoka Priyantha, Janaka Wakkumbura, Sisira Jayakody, Prasanna Ranaweera and Indika Anuruddha, Chairman of Gampaha District Development Committee Sahan Pradeep Withana MP, Gampaha District Secretary Saman Darshana Padikorala and Ministers of Gampaha district and Government officials are due to participate.
