Sri Lanka Masters’ athletics to come full bloom

The Sri Lanka-Southern Masters Athletics Association has organized the first ever International Masters Athletics Championships-2023 to be held at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium-Diyagama from August 19 to 21.

The age groups of the athletes, who take part in the Championships are Open age, below 35 years, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-99 and above 100.

Events will include the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, 80/100/110/200/300/400m hurdles, long jump, high jump, triple jump, pole vault, shot put, discus, javelin, hammer, race walking and 2000m/3000m steeplechase.

According to the organizers they will be looking into the possibility of providing three air tickets to three athletes to take part in the International Masters Athletics Championships-2023 scheduled to be held in West-Bengal India.

Entries will close on July 12 and officials have requested athletes to call 072-0420546 for clarifications.
