Spanish travel influencers conclude fam tour

28 May, 2023

A group of sixteen social media influencers arrived in Sri Lanka on an invitation by Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and Sri Lanka Embassy in France on April 29 and concluded the trip on May 9.

The social media influencers, while exploring Sri Lanka, promoted the highlights of their journey on their digital and social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.

They have their own selected fan base on their social media platforms, and updated their fans about each location they visited and a short description about the place.  The group travelled around the island covering Sigiriya, Ella, Passikudah, Trincomalee, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Polonnaruwa.

They went on a safari at Eco Park, Habarana and explored the ancient ruins in Polonnaruwa.

Various tourism stakeholders such as Jetwing Hotels, Aitken Spence Travels, Mahaweli Reach Hotel, Trillium Hotels, Mount Lavinia Hotel, Siddhalepa Hotels, Bellevue Beach Hotel, collaborated with Sri Lanka Tourism to organise this promotion.

Spain is one of the fastest recovery markets for Sri Lanka Tourism after the pandemic. The Spanish market is in focus this year considering market trends and increases in the popularity of Sri Lanka after the pandemic.

This fam trip was organised as a part of Sri Lanka Tourism’s strategy to promote and market Sri Lanka as a preferred destination in the Spanish Market. As it is under the European market, Spain can be a crucial destination to bring an influx of tourists to Sri Lanka, given the necessary promotion and recognition. Spain has also been included in the top 12 markets during the month of April.

Sri Lanka Tourism has another activity in the pipeline for the Spanish market this year, including the travel agent familiarisation trip which is to take place soon.
