
Colombo Dockyard PLC laid the keel of the fifth 5,000 DWT Eco bulker series for the Misje Eco Bulk AS Norway.
Colombo Dockyard delivered the second vessel of the series on April 21 this year and due to deliver the third and fourth vessels later this year.
The simple ceremony was graced by Owner Representative / Site Manager for the project, Thusitha Herath and Owner representative Prince Dharmarajan and DNV surveyors Mohan Ariyarathne and Pulasthi Jeewantha Ipalwatha.
From CDPLC side, Chairman Hideaki Tanaka MD/CEO Thimira S. Godakumbura, Director J. Furukawa and a host of other senior management and staff were present.
The 89.95m DNV classed Eco Bulker was designed by Wartsila Norway, and detailed design is carried out in-house by the CDPLC design team.
The vessel comprises of an Energy Storage Battery System (ESS) for Electric Hybrid Propulsion on top of the conventional diesel propulsion facility.
Misje Eco Bulk AS, Norway (Misje) is the very first European client of CDPLC and this project will further strengthen CDPLC’s reputation in the European market with the brand “Built in Sri Lanka blending Sri Lankan technology with Japanese quality”.
