May Day rallies and events in Colombo

Many May Day rallies and events will be held in Colombo. The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) May Day celebrations under the theme, “Let’s defeat challenges and realise aspirations” will commence at 2.00 pm at Campbell Park, Borella and the UNP’s May Day celebrations will be held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium at 9.00 am.

The Samagi Jana Balawega (SJB) May Day rally will be held under the theme, “Country’s struggle springing from the workplace”.

The SJB will commence its May Day procession from the P.D. Sirisena Grounds, Maligawatta at 1.00 pm and proceed towards the A.E. Gunasinghe Ground, Colombo where the rally will be held.

The National People’s Power (NPP) will hold its Red May Day rally under the theme, “Let’s defeat the tyrannical regime that sells the country and build a people-friendly administration”. The NPP will commence its march from the BRC Grounds at 2.00 pm and the rally will be held near the Viharamahadevi Park at 4.00 pm.

The Uttara Lanka Sabhagaya will commence its May Day rally at Hyde Park, Colombo at 3.00 pm and the May Day event of the Frontline Socialist Party will be held at the Ananda Samarakoon Open Air Theatre, Nugegoda at 3.00 pm. A May Day celebration, jointly organised by the Mahajana Party and other parties will be held at the N.M. Perera Centre, Borella. Various parties and organisations will hold May Day events across the island.
