The Nuwara Eliya Spring Festival which is held annually centered on the city of Nuwara Eliya commenced on April 1 on a grand scale.
It was launched under the patronage of Central Provincial Secretary Gamini Rajaratne and Nuwara Eliya District Secretary Nandana Galaboda. The festival will be held until April 30.
This year’s event started with an equestrian display and children from 17 main schools in Nuwara Eliya city, military, Air Force, Navy, Police band displays and various other displays and decorative features.
There will be car races, motorcycle races, horse racing, boat racing competitions, musical shows and carnivals and a number of other various programmes.
The festival is being organized by the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council, on the instructions of Nuwara Eliya Municipal Commissioner and Additional District Secretary Sujeewa Bodhimanne.
