It will be a major tussle for supremacy or pride when Navy Sports Club host arch rivals defending champions Kandy Sports Club in the second round of the Nippon Paint ‘A’ Division inter-club league rugby tournament match at Welisara today.

Kick off will be at 4.00pm.

Going by how the two teams fared this season, Kandy SC have a definite chance of ending on top but Navy SC are no pushovers and this factor could make the event a thrilling tussle.

Kandy SC won both legs against Navy SC last year and this year had a close call in the first round match before winning 35-30.

In the first round of the League this year Kandy beat CR after a nail biter (13-11) while Navy was really lucky to beat the Air Force outfit 32-31.

But the Navy outfit lost to the formidable and young CR & FC side by 33 points to 27 last week at Welisara while Kandy SC carried out a scintillating performance to thrash Havelock SC 35-15 at Havelock Park in their last outing.

The Kandy boys with the presence of a sturdy set of forwards who are capable of pulling the game in their favour will have to play a vital role in today’s contest and if the speedy three-quarter line of the Navy lads spearheaded by their dynamic playmaker former Isipathana scrum half Harsha Maduranga delivers the desired results, then it will be a daunting task for the Kandy lads to counter their attack.

Kandy SC (probable team)

Navy SC (probable team)
