S. Sivanantharajah promoted Surveyor General

S. Sivanantharajah has been promoted as the 53rd Surveyor General of the Survey Department of Sri Lanka from January 1, 2023. He received his primary education at Yarlton College, Karainager and the secondary education at Jaffna College, Vadukoddai, Jaffna and completed his degree in Physical Science with 1st class Honours from the University of Peradeniya.

He got the first public service appointment in the Survey Department on March 1, 1988 as an Assistant Superintendent of Surveys. After completing the Higher Diploma in Surveying and Mapping from the Institute of Surveying and Mapping, Diyatalawa, he has been involved in the development activities by supervising the Surveyors in the Kurunegala and Matale districts and then transferred to the Surveyors General’s office and worked in various technical branches.

He has completed the Master of Science (M.Sc.) in GIS and Remote Sensing from ITC, The Netherlands in 1999/2000.

He has contributed to Land Information System (LIS), Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote sensing activities in the Department and represented International and local conferences. He has served all the technical branches in the Survey Department and the best resource person for GIS and Remote Sensing programs in Sri Lanka and served as Visiting Lecturer at the University of Peradeniya and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
