The Police Cadet Unit has been transformed into the Police Cadet Division at the Police Training College, Kalutara. Sri Lanka Police Service which commenced on September 3, 1866 is one of the oldest State Service Institutions, contributing to a great social service and defence of the citizens in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka Police Cadet Corp, supported by the Malaysian Police Cadet Corp, began in Sri Lanka, under the then IGP Stanley Senanayake on July 4, 1972. The Police Cadet Unit was set up at the Police Training School, Kalutara in 2016.
