
The Industrial Development Board (IDB) will facilitate the development of the automobile and vehicle assembling industry enabling it to reach the next phase of growth, IDB Deputy Director-General Development (Acting) and Director of Engineering W.A.P. Kapila Nishantha told the Sunday Observer Business last week.
The IDB will help the automobile industry with sharing of expertise and technology to boost the standard of the industry vital to enhance efficiency and minimize environmental pollution, he said. The IDB will also facilitate provision of land, factories and issuing of standard certifications for the industry.
The Board launched the domestically manufactured 200CC electrically driven motorcycles at the ‘Industry 2022’ exhibition at the BMICH. The exhibition ends today.
The electricity-powered motorbike was manufactured at the IDB premises and facilitated by the Board.
The Board also facilitated the manufacture of electrically driven three wheel and motor-driven paddle bicycles, prosthetics and fixators for the health sector.
The ‘Industry 2022’ exhibition will empower domestic manufacturers with knowledge, funding, opportunities, manpower and distribution network for industrialists to achieve their goals, Nishantha said.
The exhibition will help create a sustainable industrial infrastructure through a sustainable need assessment targeting the export market and finally, uplift the industrial contribution 26% to 45% in GDP reducing the economic stress, Nishantha said adding that building leaders and a second lineup that could boost foreign exchange by 4-5 % in the domestic manufacturing industry is vital.
Industry 2022, a national industry flagship exhibition is the largest industry event conducted by the Industrial Development Board (IDB).
