5 September, 2021

It has been identified that the photo of the couple shared on social media in connection with the controversial Pahanthudawa adult video incident was a fake.

The couple in the photo in an interview with a private television channel has said that they were deeply embarrassed by the incident. They also urged social media users not to share such fake posts that tarnish their image and do injustice to innocent people.

Meanwhile, Public Security Minister Rear Admiral (Retd) Sarath Weerasekera has said that if the couple in the photo which is being shared on social media, claiming to be the couple involved in an obscene video near the Pahanthudawa Waterfall, is fake an investigation should be carried out immediately.

The Minister has instructed the DIG in charge of the CID to conduct an immediate investigation to find the perpetrators.

Earlier, the Police had instructed social media platforms and websites that had published a pornographic video that was filmed at the Pahanthudawa Waterfall in Belihuloya to be taken down.

The CID had launched an investigation into the video that was widely circulating on social media and other adult websites.

Police Spokesman, SSP Nihal Thalduwa said an investigation has also been launched into the video by the Cyber Crimes Division of the Police Department. He warned that being in possession and sharing of such adult content is a punishable offence in Sri Lanka.
