Nana Agyemang creates opportunities for Black and Brown women

30 May, 2021

As a Black woman, Nana Agyemang didn’t have the type of networking opportunities she imagined she would when she started working in the media industry. That’s why now she’s creating that access for other women who look like her with her platform EveryStylishGirl (or ESG, for short.)

The media company focuses on helping to advance Black and Brown women in fashion and media. One way Nana connects these women is through her Sip N’ Slay conferences. This weekend, ESG will be hosting its tenth conference with Keke Palmer as a keynote speaker. The event will provide more networking opportunities, as well as highlight the importance of mental health and how it affects young and healthy people, especially following the pandemic and major life breakthroughs.

While all of Nana’s Sip N’ Slay conferences were in person before COVID-19, she had to pivot last year to create digital experiences to still keep women connected, which worked out in her favor. Before COVID, Nana was preparing to have a Sip N’ Slay conference in Ghana. When the conference had to go digital, she realized there was a bigger opportunity at hand. “We could reach more of a global audience and have more of a global impact [when we went digital], so it worked to our advantage,” she tells Teen Vogue. Now, she’s able to have a worldwide presence and influence which has always been her goal, especially for small-town women like herself.
