Mihiranga, Pulasthi, Vishwa and Denuwan top the charts at school cricket

Mihiranga Fernando of Sri Sumangala College Panadura and Pulasthi Atapattu the skipper of Kegalu Vidyalaya have become the leading batsmen of the Under 19 Inter School Division Two tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association (SLSCA).

Vishwa Lahiru of Sri Sumangala College Panadura and Denuwan Jayawardena of Sri Jayawardenapura MV Kotte were the leading bowlers in the tournament.

Batsman Senindu Hansaja Bandara who is also a right arm off spinner of Lyceum International School Wattala and Shonal Appuhamy, a right hand batsman and right arm paceman of St. Mary’s College Chilaw were the leading all-rounders of the tournament.

Sri Sumangala Panadura beat St. John’s Panadura by six wickets in the final at the BRC ground in Colombo.

Mihiranga Fernando, a right hand top order batsman and deputy skipper of Sri Sumangala College Panadura scored 307 runs in eight matches with a century and a half century. He made 122 runs against St. John’s College Panadura in the first round fixture of the tier ‘A’ series.

Vishwa Lahiru Kumara, a left arm spiner of Sri Sumangala Panadura claimed 22 wickets for 172 runs in eight matches (Ave. 7.82) in the tier ‘A’ tourney.

Senindu Hansaja Bandara of Lyceum International School Wattala was the leading all-rounder of the tournament with 275 runs with a century and a half century and claimed 12 wickets for 154 runs in seven matches (Ave. 12.83).

Thevendram Dinoshan (St. John’s Jaffna -186), Senindu Hansaja Bandara (Lyceum International School Wattala - 125), Mihiranga Fernando (Sri Sumangala Panadura -122), Reshan Malith Fernando (St. John’s Panadura -122), Lasith Nisalanka Peiris (St. Peter’s Negombo - 111), Prabath Jayasekara (Sri Sumangala Panadura - 100) made centuries in the tier ‘A’ series.

Vishwa Lahiru Kumara (Sri Sumangala Panadura - 5/12), Brian Hansaja (Holy Cross Kalutara - 5/13), Vidusha Peiris (Sri Sumangala Panadura - 5/17), Arosh Bhagya (Holy Cross Kalutara - 5/19), Manuja Dulneth (Rahula Matara - 5/24), Tharindu Chamodya (Siri Piyarathana Padukka -5/25), Anton Abhishek (St. John’s Panadura - 5/30), Manth Pawan (Siri Piyarathana Padukka - 5/32), Kaveesha Kalpana (Sri Devananda Ambalangoda - 5/38), Sachindu Perera (Lyceum International School Wattala - 5/42), Lasith Nisalanka Peiris (St. Peter’s Negombo - 5/56) and Niupul Chamodan (St. Peter’s Negombo - 5/56) claimed more than five wickets in an inning.

Tier ‘B’ Tournament

Sri Jayawardenapura MV Kotte emerged champion and Royal College Panadura was runner-up in the tournament when they played the final as the former beat the latter by five runs in the tier ‘B’ tournament at the BRC ground.

Pulasthi Atapattu, a right hand top order batsman and skipper of Kegalu Vidyalaya scored 312 runs in five matches with a century and two half centuries. He made 117 runs against Sri Rahula College Katugastota in the first round fixture and maintained an average of 78.00.

Denuwan Jayawardena a left arm spinner of Sri Jayawardenapura MV Kotte claimed 18 wickets for 166 runs in eight matches (Ave. 9.22).

Dilesh Shonal, a right hand batsman and right arm paceman of St. Mary’s College Chilaw was the leading all-rounder of the tournament. He scored 249 runs with a century and claimed 11 wickets for 177 runs in five matches (Ave. 16.09).

Dilesh Shonal (St. Mary’s Chilaw -159), Pulasthi Atapattu (Kegalu Vidyalaya - 117) and Janith AKash (Sri Jayawardenapura MV Kotte - 106) made centuries in this series.

Kaveesh Sathsara (P. De S. Kularathne MV Ambalangoda - 7/12), Kaveesh Madushan (St. Mary’s Chilaw - 7/30), Denuwan Jayawardena (Sri Jayawardenapura MV Kotte - 6/21), Kusal Perera (Asoka Vidyalaya - 6/26), Hasantha Warunajith (Royal Panadura - 5/20), Dilesh Shonal (St. Mary’s Chilaw - 5/21), Chamod Supun (Sri Jayawardenapura MV Kotte - 5/26), Kavindu Jayathilake (St. Thomas’ Matale - 5/36) and Hasitha Hishan (Sri Jayawardenapura MV Kotte - 5/41) claimed more than five wickets in an inning.
